LED neon flex has almost entirely replaced glass neon, and for good reasons: it is a flexible silicone or PVC extrusion with LEDs inside, so it bends into letters and curves without a glassblower, runs on low voltage instead of several thousand volts, survives being knocked, and can be cut to length on site at marked intervals.

What to get right
Choose side-bend or top-bend for the shape you need
Side-bend neon flexes in the plane of its face — right for lettering, logos and any shape drawn flat on a wall. Top-bend flexes perpendicular to the face — right for running along an edge, over a curve or around a soffit. Ordering the wrong one means the flex physically will not follow the drawing.
Cut only on the marked points
Neon flex is cuttable at fixed intervals — commonly every 50-100mm depending on the profile — because that is where the circuit allows it. Cutting between marks kills the segment. Set out lettering and runs against those intervals before fabrication, not after.
Seal every cut end properly for exterior use
An IP-rated neon flex is only rated where it is sealed. A cut end is an open end, and it must be closed with the correct end cap and adhesive. Unsealed cuts are the single most common failure on outdoor neon signage in the UAE — dust and humidity get in and the segment goes dark.
Mount in channel on long runs
Neon flex holds its own shape over short lengths but sags over long horizontal runs, especially in summer heat when the silicone softens. Aluminium mounting channel or a routed backing keeps the line straight and takes the weight off the adhesive.
